It promises to be a tight race for congress.

Republican challenger Rick Berg looks to unseat democrat Earl Pomeroyand a recent poll has them neck and neck.

This afternoon Berg brought a little help to town.

South Dakota Senator John Thune stumped on his behalf.

Thune says Berg is the right fit for Washington...with his emphasis on job creation, cutting spending, and keeping tabs on taxes.

John Thune:"He's got so much experience that I think applies to problems and challenges that were facing in Washington today. His experience as a state legislator, balancing budgets, staying fiscally responsible here in North Dakota, his experience in the private sector creating jobs I think the thing that most North Dakotans most South Dakotans most Americans are focused on right now is job creating, spending, and debt."

A late July Rasmussen survey shows Berg leaging Pomeroy by three percentage points in the race for US House.
